My students gain a deeper understanding of math concepts when they have things to work with hands on in centers or teacher lead. My students lay out the number words with a partner then turn them over to check their work. If the numbers are in order they successfully completed the task.

I say common word wall words and the students have to look for the word on the word wall and copy the spelling correctly. This helps my first graders correct the spelling of was each year.
