I've been an Art Specialist with Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) for the past 7 years and a Project Based Learning County Support Teacher and STEAM teacher for the past 3 years. I have led various PBL and STEAM training within and outside of FCPS, including webinars and week-long conferences for the National Art Education Association (NAEA).
Over the past few summers, I have taught several arts based Summer Camp classes for the National Smithsonian. These classes blended museum visits with material and project exploration.
I recently published a chapter titled, "The Importance of Integrating the Arts into the STEM Curriculum," for the book, Converting STEM into STEAM Programs: Methods and Examples from and for Education.

My own education history
I love teaching and learning from my students and colleagues! Prior to my recruitment to FCPS, I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in General Fine Arts and my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). My art background helps with my creative and aesthetically pleasing teacher resources. :-)
Additional biographical information
I'm an avid reader, dog-lover, and closet nerd! My husband and I love going backpacking and playing table top games. I love creating digital drawings, and can easily create custom clip art for sale in my store upon request.
