I began my teaching career as a substitute teacher in 2018. While subbing, I also was finishing my degree with WGU (Western Governors University). I did the first half of my degree at Missouri State University. Then I did my student teaching in the Fall of 2020 right in the midst of COVID in a 3rd grade classroom. I was lucky enough to be at a school that was fully in-person. Immediately after my student teaching ended (like the day after), I was hired to stay on at the district I student taught in as a full-time teachers aide in the same 3rd grade classroom. Then I was offered a 4th grade position at that same school.
I may be "new" to education, but throughout the 7 years it took me to complete my degree, I have always been passionate about education and, in my spare time, enjoyed researching best practices, new strategies, and the most effective resources to use in the classroom across different subject areas.
I have worked one-on-one with one of the most sought after curriculum and instruction developers in my state to help me develop the curriculum, including personally developed assessments that align with the Common Core Standards for 4th grade. This has given me a drive and passion for diving deeper into curriculum and instruction, and given me the inspiration to begin creating resources for 3rd and 4th grade.
