I’m Erika — a former school system employee turned homeschool mom who’s passionate about creating resources that make learning meaningful, organized, and fun. After years working as a high school special education assistant, attendance secretary, and data processing clerk, I left the classroom to homeschool my son full time when he needed 1:1 support to thrive.
Now, I design practical and beautiful planners, printables, classroom decor, writing prompts, seasonal packs, and do-a-dot activities to help teachers and homeschool families stay inspired and confident. My goal is to share the tools I create for my own homeschool — to save you time, add joy to your lessons, and support learning for every type of student.

Teaching style
My teaching style blends structure, creativity, and flexibility. I believe learning should be organized, engaging, and adaptable to every child’s needs. Whether it’s through hands-on do-a-dot activities, visual writing prompts, or simple planning tools, I create resources that make teaching easier and learning more joyful. My goal is to support both homeschool families and classroom teachers with practical, purposeful materials that fit real-life learning.
Additional biographical information
I’m a Tennessee native raising my boys in the same hometown my husband and I grew up in. We live on a small family farm where learning happens everywhere — from the hayfields to the kitchen table. Our days on the farm are filled with family, faith, and learning - often right in the same fields where my husband first worked hay years ago. Our lifestyle and homeschool journey inspire every resource I create for Learning Lab Layne, blending structure, creativity, and real-life learning for families and teachers alike.
