Experience

I bring over 20 years of experience in education, including teaching middle school math and high school math. Beyond the classroom, I have served as a technology trainer, secondary math coordinator, and virtual learning coordinator in public education. Throughout my career, I have designed innovative, standards-aligned teaching resources and provided professional development for educators working with students at all levels—from remedial to advanced. Teaching style

My teaching style is rooted in discovery-based learning. I believe students grasp math concepts most effectively when they have the opportunity to explore and uncover these ideas on their own. To support this process, I design intentional learning experiences that incorporate ongoing feedback throughout the lesson. I also integrate note-taking strategies to structure my lessons, ensuring that students regularly revisit their thinking. This approach not only deepens their understanding but also enhances long-term retention.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have had the privilege of teaching at four different campuses and was honored to be nominated as Teacher of the Year at each one. Teaching AVID and serving as a staff developer for the program taught me how to engage students in ways that empower them to take ownership of their learning. Witnessing my students grow and achieve has been the most rewarding part of my career. Whether supporting students striving to pass or guiding those pursuing a future in mathematics, my primary focus is always on fostering meaningful growth

My own education history

I earned my teaching degree from Texas A&M University–Commerce and later completed my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Texas at Arlington.
