Spelling Slips

The page comes 6 images in 1 sheet. Then cut into 6 slips per sheet. Students use these little slips to attempt to write a word they are having trouble with. Then, they check in with their teacher for spell check and editing. They then go back to their desk to add that word into their personal spelling journal.

Student Directions Cards (spanish)

I used these with PK-2nd. I laminated them and glued a magnet on the back. I place them on the board as I'm giving directions/instructions for an assignment. The students reference to the board if they forget what to do after completing a task. It takes some practice but when they get it, it really minimizes dependence on their teacher. You can also use them for recent immigrants or to place side by side with English cards to reinforce ESL/ELL. Includes: colorear, cortar, acomodar, pegar, nombre

Student Directions Cards

I use these with PK-2nd graders. I explain the assignment they're going to complete while referring to the cards. I laminated them and placed a small magnet on the back to place them on the board (or a pocket chart). As the students are working and forget what to do next, they refer to the board so as to know what task comes next. This when they ask what comes next, you simply point to the cards . It takes practice like everything, but once they get it, it works great on minimizing teacher help.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Teacher of the year for my campus in 2010 and 2021. Teacher of the month every once in a while. The best award any teacher can receive is a sincere "Thank You" from a student/parent.

Additional biographical information

I knew I was going to be a teacher since I was 5 years old. I use to set up plastic milk crates in my room with stuffed animals as students and a green chalkboard propped up on a chair and pretend to teach to the perfect class. All teachers know now there's no such thing. It takes time and hard work. I'm always looking for new fun ways to get the kiddos attention.
