About the store
I teach at a Title I school with a very high ESOL population. I started as a long term substitute for a Math intervention teacher, working with grades 1 - 5. I worked the rest of that school year as a Teacher Support Assistant - still doing Math interventions and also providing reading intervention to students in grades 1 - 5. My first year was in 2013/2014 as a 3rd grade teacher. I switched to 4th grade in the 2014/2015 school year. Teaching 5th grade now (2017/2018). I absolutely love teaching and just want to be the best teacher I can be!

Customizable Teacher Binder (Watercolor)

**Currently dated for August 2018 - July 2019.** I created this binder for myself - because I did not want to pay an arm and a leg for a teacher planner this year. I hope you can find this helpful and it will help your wallet too!! The dates will be updated every year! I plan on using a binding machine to bind my printed pages into a planner - if you do not have access to one - printing stores are very reasonably priced, or you could hole punch the pages and use a binder. *** What is included

Teaching style

I am still a somewhat new teacher, always learning things and soaking up tips like a sponge. I am excited to incorporate whole brain teaching strategies into my lesson's and work on pacing to ensure my students are engaged and actively learning the content. I am passionate about goal setting and teaching the whole child.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Graduated with honors in 2012. Received the ETS Recognition of Excellence Award. The ETS Recognition of Excellence (ROE) Award honors test takers who achieve exceptional individual performance on selected Praxis® Subject Assessments (formerly the Praxis II® tests). It is awarded to test takers who meet or exceed the ROE target score determined by the top 15 percent of candidates who took the test in previous years.

My own education history

I grew up in South Africa, so I attended pre-school (there is no pre-K or kindergarten) through 12th grade there. I then completed a year-long course on computer programming and earned a Comprehensive Programming diploma. I moved to the USA and earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Teaching.

Additional biographical information

I love to learn new things - I enjoy professional developments, collaborating, and participating in communities that teach me new things and stretch my perspective. I also enjoy reading, photography, going to concerts, and spending time with my friends and my husband.
