Strawberry DNA Extraction Lab
This is a simple and relatively cheap way for students to get a look at DNA. This is a great activity to use when beginning to talk about DNA and genetics.
This activity is cost effective and safe to perform with all student groups. Students will enjoy being able to hold and touch the DNA as it is precipitated out of the strawberry cells. You will be amused at how interesting this activity is to your students.
I've seen students often want to look at the DNA "glob" under the microscope
