This classroom scavenger hunt is a beginning of the year activity that can be completed during Sneak Peek, 1st Day of School, or Open House. This activity helps students get acquainted with the classroom by asking them to look for certain items. It also helps you get to know the students by asking them some preferences about items around the room. Add a little holiday cheer in your classroom by having your students participate in a Secret Snowman Book Exchange. Students will complete an interest survey, swap surveys via a "snowball fight", and then spread good cheer by getting a book for the student.

The Important Thing about My Classmates is a getting to know you activity. After reading The Important Book by Margaret Wise Brown, students will interview their classmates using a graphic organizer. Then using the information they have gathered, each student will write about a classmate using the pattern used in the book. Differentiated writing frames are provided for students who may need more support. Enjoy!
Students will use the Internet to research the median annual salaries of various professions.. They will compile the information on a chart and then create a poster ordering all of the salaries. Students will also create inequalities using the information.
