Learning With Mr A

This is a Sates and Capitals review game. Each student gets a copy of a grid. The teacher places a states and capitals card on each desk. Students will move from desk to desk, answering the question on the card and writing it down on the matching grid number on their paper. If they are at number 5 desk, they answer in the number 5 box. When the teacher says “SCOOT”, they move to the next desk. This pattern continues until all students have completed their grid.

This classic study tool has been modified to scaffold as students learn about different regions. Each region can be played independently or link cards to study all states and capitals. It starts at the Northeast and ends in the West.

This step by step process is great for students beginning to research, helping them see how paragraphs are made. Students cut and sort details by topic and form a Main Idea for each group of details. Students use their Main Ideas and Details to create three paragraphs.
