When students begin to learn about decimal numbers, counting the squares on a hundred grid can help build understanding of hundredths. Easel Assessments are self-grading. You can set up the assessment to show the students the scores as they play or use this as a test and the scores go to the teacher only. Use these I can make five mats in your small group math lessons. Students place a number of counters from 0 - 5 on the mat and then write the amount they have and and how many more they need to make five. The mats progress from a five frame to a more difficult mat with scattered placed squares. The mats include sentences to encourage proper math language.
