When students begin to learn about decimal numbers, counting the squares on a hundred grid can help build understanding of hundredths. Easel Assessments are self-grading. Use these I can make five mats in your small group math lessons. Students place a number of counters from 0 - 5 on the mat and then write the amount they have and and how many more they need to make five. The mats progress from a five frame to a more difficult mat with scattered placed squares. The mats include sentences to encourage proper math language. Perfect for EL students, dual language classrooms, and early readers. I use these with my first grade math intervention students.
