This unit provides lesson plans for teaching the elements of a short story using Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes as a model. Several graphic organizers are included as well. Topics covered: setting, characters, conflict, rising and falling action, climax, resolution, and theme.

This is an outline on how to prepare a cell model project. Includes a list of all the parts of both plant and animal cells that need to be labeled along with suggestions for materials to get students started.

Students read a short passage and then draw conclusions based on what they read and their prior knowledge. Students must also support their inferences citing evidence from the text.
