Experience

With 18 years in education, I’ve had the pleasure of teaching various subjects to students in grades 3-8, ranging from advanced learners to those needing extra support. Currently, I serve as the Differentiation Specialist for our district, ensuring all students receive the tailored education they deserve.

Teaching style

My classroom thrives on student-centered, hands-on, and inquiry-based activities. I believe in empowering students to take charge of their learning, fostering curiosity, and encouraging them to explore and discover.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I’ve been honored as New Teacher of the Year and have presented at the Honors Council of the Illinois Region. One of my proudest moments was collaborating with Charlotte Danielson and the Consortium for Educational Change on a teacher training video, contributing to the professional growth of educators.

My own education history

I hold a B.A. in Elementary Education with a minor in Biology and an M.A. in Education with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction. Additionally, I’m certified in Gifted Education, which has been instrumental in shaping my approach to teaching diverse learners.

Additional biographical information

Beyond the classroom, I love diving into genealogy research and traveling with my family to new places.
