Science Magic Show - Ta Da!

Thank you for looking at my product. This resource demonstrates a magic trick while also teaching about changing states of matter. It is a great opportunity to have the students practice their drama skills as they practice to become a great magician! Although you can order the sodium polyacrylate needed for this experiment, you can also get it from cutting up diapers! Yes! Forms of Potential Energy

What are the forms of potential energy? When we understand that there is potential and kinetic energy, we ask ourselves, "Are there different forms of potential and kinetic energy?" This lesson introduces four forms of potential energy and explains three of them in depth. The fourth, nuclear energy, is a concept for high school. The three that are taught are mechanical energy, gravitational energy, and chemical energy. Students watch a video created by "Let's Do Learning" and demonstrate their u

What is Energy?

What is energy? Let's watch a YouTube video explaining the transfer of energy from potential to kinetic. Once students understand the terms energy, potential energy, kinetic energy, and work, they decide what experiment they wish to perform in order to explain how energy transfers from potential to kinetic. A student's Wow! moment comes from actually experiencing the learning process. In this inquiry based lesson, students get to explore the concepts presented on their own rather than just bein

About the store

Experience

I have 35 years of teaching experience from PreK through Algebra II. I am Montessori trained. I love teaching STEM and have been a STEM specials teacher for 5 years. I teach science summer camps full of hands-on activities.

Teaching style

Being Montessori trained, I believe that students need to be active participants in their own learning. The teacher is the guide. Every student learns, but each one learns differently. Through project based learning, students can truly demonstrate what they have learned in any subject area.

My own education history

I am the child of teachers so my course was pretty much set. I started working in a Montessori preschool and decided to invest in Montessori training. I loved it! While teaching preschool, I continued my education, getting my bachelor's, credential, and master's. In the middle of that, I also continued my Montessori education for children ages 6-9.

Additional biographical information

When the private school I was working at was forced to close due to COVID, I had to quickly pivot. Parents from the school wanted me to continue teaching their children so I quickly began my own private, online elementary school. My students are local so we have STEM in the Park on Fridays with art, STEM and a WOW! science experiment.
