Experience

I have been an educator since 1999, with over 20 years of experience teaching mathematics. I taught math for grade 6 before transitioning into a Math Instructional Coach role in 2019. In this position, I support teachers in classroom management, lesson planning, instructional strategies, data analysis, math instruction and intervention. My experience in both the classroom and coaching roles allows me to create resources that are not only student-friendly, but also teacher-practical and aligned with best instructional practices.

Teaching style

My teaching style focuses on building relationships with students first, followed by purposeful practice. I believe students learn math best when they are given engaging, hands-on experiences. I emphasize: -Clear, structured routines and instruction -Visual models and representations -Math discourse and reasoning -Scaffolding for struggling learners -Opportunities for independent and collaborative problem solving My goal is to help students build confidence in math while developing skills they can carry forward into high school and beyond.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Some of my proudest professional moments come from watching students gain confidence in math and from supporting teachers as they refine their instructional practice. As a Math Instructional Coach, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with educators across multiple grade levels, design targeted interventions, and help implement effective math practices that lead to student growth. Seeing both students and teachers experience success in math continues to be the most rewarding part of my work.

My own education history

I hold a sixth-year degree and an Intermediate Administration or Supervision certification in the state of Connecticut. My educational background, combined with years of classroom and instructional coaching experience, has provided me with a strong foundation in both mathematics instruction and educational leadership. This training allows me to design math resources that are instructionally sound, standards-aligned, and supportive of best practices in teaching and learning. I continue to value ongoing professional learning and stay current with research-based strategies to best support both teachers and students.

Additional biographical information

I am passionate about middle school education and believe these years are critical in shaping students’ attitudes toward math. I enjoy creating resources that save teachers time while still being thoughtful, engaging, and effective for diverse learners. When I’m not working on math resources, I enjoy collaborating with fellow educators and finding new ways to make math more accessible and less intimidating for students.
