I created these posters to help teach students how to read complex text in a scaffolded way. I created this 5 day unit to outline how I have taught close reading to my students. We teach 5th grade English language learners, some of whom have special needs. Therefore, they are all at different levels in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. This product offers you a differentiated approach to helping students tackle those higher level texts with confidence! Do your students have trouble with extending their responses for writing? Do they get the final part of a state assessment and freeze up? Help them make a MEAL of it! This pack includes 6 11 x 17 color posters-- 2 for the title and 4 each part of the acronym, MEAL. It also comes with a rubric to grade student writing and to help students reflect.

We use these instead of stickers and prizes. Chances are, if a student earns this as a reward (it costs 10 good behavior tickets), they can handle missing one homework assignment. We also put these in their holiday gift bags sometimes. Print double sided!

I created these bilingual behavior cards to post as I teach expected centers behaviors during independent work. If you need another behavior added, send me a message and I'll include it in the pack in an update!

This was created to help students evaluate their short responses to questions based upon the original scoring rubric put out by the state (http://engageny.org/sites/default/files/resource/attachments/grade-5-ela-guide_0.pdf page #2). We have used this both for students to assess themselves as well as to anonymously assess each other. Feel free to modify but do not resell, please!

I created this pamphlet to educate teachers about the sometimes difficult process that students face when transferring their Spanish language skills to English. Be sure to print front to back--short edge--for pages to match properly!

I used this to add some fun to an otherwise irritating endeavor--using my data binder to keep track of things that I would be doing anyway. I printed this out onto colored card stock to bring it to a whole other level. For the divider pages, I then printed out tabs with each students' name and then taped them to the edge. Voila! Cheap, colorful, extremely useful dividers. If you need a modification, send me a message and I'll modify the file a bit.
