About the store
I am a speech language pathologist in my clinical fellowship year. I work in the public school setting supporting children of all ages, disabilities, and skill levels. My strength in language acquisition and sentence generation provides me with insights others may not see. Prior to being an SLP, I previously taught secondary education with endorsements in English Language Arts, German as a Foreign Language, and English as a Second Language. I taught literature, writing, grammar, and cultural lessons for nearly 10 years before discovering my "home" in speech language pathology.

Pig the Monster: Irregular verbs extension activity

This activity is a narrative intervention extension activity for “Pig the Monster,” from the Pig the Pug series by Aaron Blabey. This activity targets 12 irregular past tense verbs. The cards can be used to supplement the narrative retell or simply used for sentence generation in the context of Pig's adventures. As with all narrative intervention extension activities, this is best used after reading the story at least once. That provides the content for the sentences. If the child can't remem

Thanks for Nothing! Extension for a Complex Sentence

This is an extension activity to use with Bruce the Bear, Little Bruce Book "Thanks for Nothing!" After reading the narrative with the child, this activity stretches language to formulate a complex sentence using a subordinating conjunction and adverbial phrase. The use of the pictures and sentence ideas reduces cognitive load off the child and brings abstract concepts into a more concrete realm, thereby helping a child who uses only simple sentences to stretch their language in a comfortable

Thanks for Nothing! Verb tenses

This is an extension activity for "Thanks for Nothing!" A little Bruce the Bear book. Students match different variations of the verbs "eat," "carve" [pumpkins], and "play," to custom pictures of each sentence. These verbs match activities that the mice do in the book, to allow for a reading connection and verbal expression. Why do

Experience

My strength in language acquisition and sentence generation provides me with insights others may not see. Teaching style

As a speech pathologist, I incorporate my experiences as a teacher to create worthwhile extensions to narratives. I use evidence based practices in my speech therapy sessions and specifically employ narrative intervention methods to target academic and social language needs. Narrative unit extensions also allow for natural lessons and practice opportunities specific to different contexts. As a teacher, I stood by the idea that project based learning is the best method. We incorporate all of the different content areas in each unit and make connections. I like a classroom with lots of little routines. Tongue Twister Tuesday, Math Facts Monday, weekly book talks, Fluency practice on Fridays, and even Reading for Fun every Wednesday.
