My strength in language acquisition and sentence generation provides me with insights others may not see. Prior to being an SLP, I previously taught secondary education with endorsements in English Language Arts, German as a Foreign Language, and English as a Second Language. Thanks for Nothing! Verb tenses

This is an extension activity for "Thanks for Nothing!" A little Bruce the Bear book. It can be used in other instances, but I'm a big fan of narrative intervention activities, so I find this a great time to talk about what the mice do in the book. Students match different variations of the verbs "eat," "carve" [pumpkins], and "play," to custom pictures of each sentence. These verbs match activities that the mice do in the book, to allow for a reading connection and verbal expression. Why do

Teaching style

As a speech pathologist, I incorporate my experiences as a teacher to create worthwhile extensions to narratives. I use evidence based practices in my speech therapy sessions and specifically employ narrative intervention methods to target academic and social language needs. Narrative unit extensions also allow for natural lessons and practice opportunities specific to different contexts. As a teacher, I stood by the idea that project based learning is the best method. We incorporate all of the different content areas in each unit and make connections. I like a classroom with lots of little routines. Tongue Twister Tuesday, Math Facts Monday, weekly book talks, Fluency practice on Fridays, and even Reading for Fun every Wednesday.
