Let's Read This Thing

This bundle includes a pre-seminar Socratic Seminar ticket, a multimedia presentation for the seminar, and a student rubric to self-track and track classmates' participation as well as write a reflection after the seminar is complete. Students choose any character from Lord of the Flies and write a sequel or prequel to the novel. The story should take place either one month before (prequel) or one month after (sequel) the events of Lord of the Flies. Their work should tell a focused story with a beginning, middle, and end. The story should make use of symbol like Golding’s allegory. This assignment includes a grading chart for easy assessment, which sets clear expectations for students, and a handout to guide peer review.
