About the store

Experience

I have been an educator for over fifteen years! I have been in the classroom for ten years; in after-school programs for five years; and I have been curriculum writing and homeschooling for the past three years! Born to a veteran teacher, in a long line of inspirational educators, it is my pleasure to bring some of my successful activities to you! Please let me know how your young learner enjoys them!

Teaching style

I believe, foremost, as teaching for liberation! I hope that the imagination leads the way! And I aim to target the concrete skills young learners need in an imaginative, fun, and cute way as well. For my older learners, the objective is always critical thought, STILL rooted in imagination for liberation! I intend for all learners walk away having enjoyed their academic play through any and all of these works.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have been named teacher of the year; I have been asked to lead my Ethnic Studies Department at the district level as a result of my works; I have a successful curriculum thriving in school districts; but my most shining accolades are the successes of my students. For my former scholars in the classroom as teachers, paras, and early education majors- they are the carriers of my legacy, and a testament to my work.

My own education history

While my professional experiences in education have been in charter schools and public schools, my own primary schooling was in a small Catholic school in San Francisco. I continued to a Catholic secondary school, and onto the nation's only Black Catholic college, Xavier University of Louisiana, in New Orleans. I finished my undergraduate degree in English from Saint Mary's College of California in Moraga, and continued on to get my MFA in Creative Writing from Sarah Lawrence College. Sarah Lawrence was the best academic experience of my life. Aside from that, I am a student of life and a purveyor of books. I am on a constant search for knowledge.
