This unit is designed for 5 30-minute classes. It is designed to coorelate with middle school Language Arts but may also work well with upper elementary and and remedial high school. It's also a lot of fun to use around Valentine's Day with advisory and character ed programs. The unit is comprised of .pdf files. It includes a teaching schedule, 2 non-fiction articles with questions/answer key, a trivia quiz with answer key, and a group activity.

This lesson is gives directions and requirements for having students research a scientist. Instead of the typical written report students will present the biographical information as a "Wanted" poster. Students must be creative to think up a crime and reward for the scientist.

*Each person in the circle should select a different job to complete. The file contains 5 different career possibilities. Each student is graded separately on the assignments they complete but the circle will work together to gather all the information. *These jobs can be used for almost any novel. Small modifications may be needed for some novels. *If your class needs more frequent check-ins to stay on task you may wish to supplement these jobs with quizzes, chapter summaries, vocabulary task
