About the store
I was a Special Education teacher for seven years while co-teaching in all subjects and then teaching struggling readers for five years. I taught intensive reading to struggling 7th and 8th grade students and then became a Reading Specialist/Literacy Coach for my school district. I have and had the pleasure of working with teachers to enhance their literacy programs and also provide professional development on many topics pertaining to reading, writing and currently the Common Core State Standards.

Several scholarships and honors awards as an undergrad and graduate student. I was invited to join the Rhodes Scholar program but was a single Mom and could not go. This year I was nominated for the "Heart of Reading" award in my school district and have received awards from my administration when my students performed above school and district averages on State Reading Tests (FCAT)
My own education history
I have a M.S. Degree in Special Education and an M.S. Degree in Reading from the State University at Albany, New York.
Additional biographical information
I love what I do and my work is also my hobby (amongst others as well.) I am constantly problem solving with teachers and creating ways to improve literacy instruction. When I am not working, I can often be found at the beach reading a good book!
