About the store

Experience

With 24 years of experience in public education teaching grades K–8, I have devoted my career to helping students who learn differently shine. I’m a certified Structured Literacy Teacher through CERI and the proud founder of Lighthouse Literacy Solutions, LLC. In my current work, I specialize in tutoring students with reading and writing challenges, supporting executive functioning skill development, and advocating for families navigating special education services.

Teaching style

My teaching is guided by research, heart, and a deep belief in each learner’s potential. I use systematic, explicit instruction that is individualized, strengths-based, and student-centered. Whether I’m supporting a child with dyslexia or creating executive functioning tools for teens and young adults, my goal is always to empower growth, independence, and confidence. My digital resources reflect this same intentionality—designed to be practical, engaging, and effective for real classrooms and real kids.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Over the years, I’ve been honored to receive recognition for the work that’s closest to my heart—advocating for students who learn differently. In 2024, I received the Excellence in Advocacy Award from JerseyCAN for my efforts to advance literacy policy and champion the needs of struggling readers. I was also recognized as a Teacher of the Year School Champion for Dyslexia Awareness by Nessy, a moment that affirmed my commitment to spreading awareness and supporting educators and families. While these awards are deeply meaningful, my greatest “shining moments” are still the breakthroughs I witness in my students—when everything clicks and they begin to believe in themselves.

My own education history

My educational journey began with two Associate’s degrees—one in Deaf Studies and the other in Liberal Arts. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Child Study from Saint Joseph’s College in Long Island, NY, where I became dual-certified in Elementary and Special Education. From there, I continued to grow as an educator, earning a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and later an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership, Management, and Policy from Seton Hall University. I’m a lifelong learner with a passion for evidence-based teaching, equity, and empowering all students to thrive.

Additional biographical information

My “why” is deeply personal. I lost my older brother at sixteen—his undiagnosed learning challenges were a part of his story, and they’ve shaped mine. I’m also a proud mom to a resilient daughter with an IEP, whose journey continues to fuel my passion for advocacy and inclusive education. In addition to running Lighthouse Digital Solutions, I’m the founder of Lighthouse Literacy Solutions, LLC, where I provide 1:1 structured literacy intervention, executive functioning coaching through Expanded Horizons, and special education advocacy under the branch True North Advocacy. Each of these services reflects my commitment to helping families and students feel supported, seen, and empowered. Whether I’m creating a printable resource, guiding a family through the IEP process, or coaching a student toward independence, everything I do is grounded in one belief: every learner deserves a clear path forward—and a lighthouse to guide the way.
