Expository Writing Graphic Organizer and Editing Checklist - Common Core Aligned

This is a pdf of a graphic organizer and editing checklist used for Expository Writing. This is the exact graphic organizer I have been using for years in my class. I use it for informational writing and have used it across different subjects in our curriculum. The editing checklists shows an exact formula of what should be included in each paragraph of a five-paragraph expository essay. It can be used by the students who wrote the essay, during peer editing, and by the teacher in the editing

About the store

Experience

Most of my teaching experience has been in the upper elementary/lower middle school grades. However, some of my materials may be appropriate for all grade levels.

Teaching style

I like to keep procedures and lessons structured, but always keep in mind that flexibility is important. You just never know when creativity, a new great idea, an interesting conversation, or a need for some research will present itself!

My own education history

BA in Communications Writing; MA in teaching.

Additional biographical information

Outside the classroom, I am passionate about animal rescue, and often volunteer for a local rescue group in my area. I also love the beach in all seasons, am always in the middle of reading a book, and can often be seen in my neighborhood walking my two dogs. My husband is a very patient and understanding man, who encourages all the time I spend on teaching preparation and animal rescue. I'm lucky to have him!
