About the store

Experience

I have been a middle school teacher for seven years. I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ELA in Hawaii for four years, and 6th grade Math and ELA in Washington for three years. After taking a year off from teaching in the classroom while my family was stationed in Texas, I am now back in Washington teaching 5th through 8th grade Math!

Teaching style

I believe in nurturing the whole child: mind, body, and spirit. I focus on the fundamentals in each of my subjects, while also fostering social emotional intelligence. My goal is to prepare students for the next phase of their educational careers and have fun doing it!

My own education history

I started as a Montessori student early on in Preschool and transitioned into "challenge" classes from 1st to 8th grade. In high school, I was a full International Baccalaureate student. I graduated from University of Portland with Secondary Education and English degrees and a Basic Mathematics Endorsement. I earned my Master's Degree from Western Governors University in Curriculum and Instruction.
