This video is fun, engaging and immerses the students in the French language! Trotro fait de la soupe can be found here: https://youtu.be/96bAIaNM6Yg I take a couple hours to create these video listening activities, and working through the video + these activities should take your students about one 50-minute class period. I use this one for high school French 2 in a food unit where we are looking at recipes, because in this video, Trotro makes pretend soup, mentioning real ingredients (he actu
This is a complete guide with several different activities to accompany the youtube cartoon "Trotro est un petit monstre." SUPER for a fun French 1 activity. Very simple for beginners, scaffolded step-by-step to help beginners understand authentic language. Very thorough synthesis of the video. Great for Halloween (Trotro goes around scaring people, then gets scared himself!) Fits well into adjectives and descriptions unit, just after -or along- with studying -er verbs, etre, and adjectives. Thi
This activity goes along with the Youtube video "Trotro et le gouter sur l'herbe". This one is fantastic for a French 1 high school course, but could be easily adapted to French 2 as well. This activity is a video listening guide / vocab support / comprehensive assessment to go along wth the youtube cartoon video "Trotro et le poisson". Video link provided. Students LOVE these Trotro French cartoons, and this activity is engaging! They are surprised at how much they know. Cartoons are an authentic way to immerse students in the language! I always get great feedback from students after doing one of these video activities. This entire activity, watching 3X+questions+checking answers
I've created a comprehensive listening guide / assessment for the 3-minute youtube video "Quand Trotro sera grand". There is so much good stuff here! Use this as a fun activity, sub plan or fold it into grammar (futur), or vocab themes (Quand j'etais petit...), future careers, etc. There are 30 vocabulary matching / multiple choice, to help students get warmed up and prepare to hear and discuss. (The vocab provides a little context! This is authentic language, which sounds "fast" to a beginner/
This includes the youtube link to a short 2 minute video clip taken from the French TV show "La maison préférée des Français", which features a family home in the mountains. The video is slow and simple, in French with French subtitles. This editable word doc has 18 simple True/False questions for the students, written in French, with a key at the end. This would be good for later in French 1 or early in French 2, and would make a great addition to a unit on house.
This activity goes along with the youtube video "Degustation Americaine", found here: https://youtu.be/jZGMpOjQtH8 Editable word doc with answer key included. (I typed it in red at the end of the activity, so delete before printing for students!) This is a fun, *authentic* video in French by a French mom and daughter duo. They open a box of 12 American sweets and try each one, commenting on and discussing each. This activity can be used for High School French 2 or 3. I use it in my 2nd semester
This is an engaging, discussion-based student lesson to start a conversation about culture, race, ethnicity and experience. Students ask and tell about where others are from (and learn to ask other, better questions!) Can be used for ELA, ESL, World Language, Social Studies, etc. I have done the work of compiling authentic resources that begin and inform the conversations. There are 2 videos and an article linked in the presentation. All sources are credited within and after presentation. *Pre
Trotro s'habille is a short, authentic cartoon available on the Trotro Officiel page on YouTube. This exercise goes along with the video as Trotro goes through his closet choosing clothes, dresses his teddy bear, then changes. The exercises are meant to be used in first year French along with a clothing vocab unit. Students are instructed to watch the video 3 times. After each viewing, they complete an activity of increasing difficulty. A. Put the events in order (in simple French, basic overv
This activity is 60 questions based on the Geography Now! Youtube video about France. The editable word doc contains the link to the video and 60 questions to review the info from the video. I like this video because it introduces France and it most important aspects to students who are completely new to the culture. It is a quick view of France. I am using it the first week of French 1, as an intro to the culture. This would make a great distance learning or internet activity. Answer key follow
This would be a great Valentine's Day or fun activity. I made it for high school French 2, but it could be easily adapted to 1 or 3, depending on how you use it. This activity goes along with the video Trotro et les fleurs (le bouquet de Trotro) found here: https://youtu.be/ZviYmx3_lfQ The exercises begin with vocab matching as a warm up (photos taken from royalty free images). There are sections of Vrai/Faux, Who said it, and putting the story events in chronological order, with a couple short
