A project that allows students to create a 1 or 2 point perspective drawing of their choosing, with very clear guidelines and fair point values based on the degree of difficulty. This project allows for all skill levels to be successful and assess their knowledge of perspective drawing skills. Rubric included.
A get-to-know-you activity for back to school. Students answer each prompt with symbols or images. Allows you to assess their drawing skills and understanding of symbolism and get to know your students. In the last section, "My favorite...", students can select what they want to share.
A generalized project rubric, to use for all projects. I have been using it with the project guide copied on the back of the rubric, and there I outline what the project requirements are.
Students create a mosaic style color wheel using FOUND colors from magazines. Students must be able to identify colors before they can truly learn to mix/create them with paint. They blend the colors seamlessly from one to the next, as well as selecting a primary or secondary color to create a monochromatic value scale as well.
An opportunity for students to design a composition of their choosing, provided they incorporate certain color theory design elements. Students demonstrate their knowledge of mixing colors, as well as the 12 part color wheel, monochromatic colors, the value scale, and compliments with their neutrals.
Designed for high school advanced art. No mater the age, students enjoy celebrating the holidays. I assigned this project 2-3 weeks prior to it's due date, and then we enjoyed a college style critique with food and beverages. (We can't call it a "party" at our school.)
