My comprehensive list of terms for students when studying the Anglo-Saxons and Beowulf. I post these on Edmodo and have my students submit online. After, students have a working of list of terms to refer to as we read together in class or as they read individually. I also have a multiple choice quiz for these terms. Also useful in creating flash cards.

After students study characterization, students will complete this chart. Students will first describe the pilgrim, give one example each of direct and indirect characterization from the text, identify the sin of the pilgrim, evaluate each pilgrim and decide whether Chaucer is stereotyping the pilgrim or portraying the pilgrim as an archetype, and finally, give Chaucer's overall perception of the pilgrim based on textual evidence. At the beginning of every year, I have each of my students fill out this info sheet, and I place them all in alphabetical order in my pink binder. Although I can access student schedules on my computer, there's nothing like having it handy in a binder when I need it. Also, if there is an incident in class e.g. excessive talking, off-task behavior, or class room disruption, I simply pull out my student info sheet and log in the info at the bottom. When it comes to parent teacher conferences, I
For every short story students read in class, they must complete a short story outline and place it in their notebooks under the "literature selections" tab. At a glance, students can refresh their comprehension and knowledge of a literature piece. Each outline is so comprehensive, students can also use the outlines to study for assessments. I assign the reading at home and the outline as homework, or students can complete the outline individually in class or as guided group classwork as well.

Notes on character and characterization. Examples of the knight and squire from the Canterbury Tales are included. This is perfect when teaching a lesson on characterization. After I go over this handout with my students, I model how to characterize, go over the examples, and during the work period, allow students to work individually or in pairs on characterizing the other pilgrims. This is a Word file so it's completely editable! Thank you!
Quick and simple quiz for the Middle Ages and a bit of the Canterbury Tales Prologue. These questions are all short answer or constructed response. Completely editable!

Parent teacher conferences are so helpful to everyone involved. I like to make sure I have all my paperwork in order. Along with a grade summary sheet for the student, I always have my conference form with me during conferences. Again, documentation is so crucial and critical in education- I document EVERYTHING. Fill out this form during your conference, have everyone present sign, and stick it in your binder right behind my student info sheet! So useful! Try it and you will see. Includes p
