Experience

This is Abeerah Jawed representing Literix (A project of ABM Consortium). I have been teaching English at the Primary and Middle School level for around seven years. I have taught English to beginner and intermediate students of various ages and linguistic backgrounds in Pakistan. After stepping into the education industry, I earned various teaching certifications, attended numerous teacher-training workshops and conducted in-house teacher training sessions. Teaching style

Through my teaching experiences and training, I developed critical pedagogic and classroom management skills, along with a passion for teaching English. These experiences gave me a deep understanding of the stages involved in students’ English literacy skills development. Inspired by The Gradual Release of Responsibility Framework, I developed a student-centred teaching style that promotes collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, digital literacy, leadership and global citizenship. As a teacher, I implement Mentor Text Routines, Literature Circles, Semantic Gradients, and use movie clips to improve learners’ targeted literacy skills. I scaffold my lessons so that they include pair and group work, regular formative assessments, and movement around the classroom. I believe students should be given a variety of learning experiences that go beyond the four walls of a classroom.
