Hi! I am a dedicated first-grade teacher in a Michigan public school. I started my teaching career in third grade, but have spent the last eight wonderful years in first grade, where I always wanted to be. My heart has always belonged to the primary grades! I enjoy teaching foundational skills like letter sounds, high-frequency words, counting, how to be a friend, and how to hold a pencil. I spend my days watching little "light-bulbs" turn on, tying lots of shoes, getting surprise-attack hugs from my little learners, and being forever amazed by the growth I see as time moves on. I named my store after their precious "little hands" that play, explore, and create so many wonderful moments in my class every single day.

Teaching style
At the core of good teaching should be trust and genuine relationships built between teacher and students. I strive for a safe & comfortable classroom atmosphere where children feel secure taking risks and learning through play, shared learning experiences, and independent practice work. I encourage movement, discussion, creativity, exploration, and discovery among my young learners. It can definitely be a struggle to make time for "fun" in today's teaching climate, but it's a crucial part of real learning. I design my worksheets and activities to be inviting to the eyes, easy to understand, and engaging for kids (and their teachers.)
Awards & shining teacher moments
Shining teacher moments are the simple things... They happen when I watch a struggling student have that beautiful "ah-ha!" moment where something difficult becomes attainable. They happen when a parent tells me their child loves to come to school and comes home each day excited to tell what she's learned. It's when I get a surprise hug around my waist from a student who wants to show that he feels safe and loved in my classroom. When I feel like I made a real difference to a child that day, however big or small, those are the moments that shine for me.

I am an education graduate of University of Michigan. I have a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree, with specialized endorsements in early childhood and reading.
