About the store

Experience

I'm an Early Childhood trained teacher and have been teaching for 27 years in Kindergartens, Preschools, State and Catholic Primary Schools all around Queensland, Australia.

Teaching style

I love to offer little learners practical, hands-on, fun learning experiences that include play-based activities.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Teaching in the remote indigenous communities of the Torres Strait Islands for 3 years has been a highlight of my teaching career. I've also enjoyed teaching in multi-age classrooms in a small hinterland school on the Gold Coast and in a Community Kindergarten in a Central Queensland regional town.

My own education history

Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) at QUT, graduating in 1996.

Additional biographical information

I'm a mother of 2 gorgeous girls - a chalk and cheese pair! One is on the Autism Spectrum and has always needed extra support with academic learning, social and emotional skills and motor development, but excels in imaginary play and showing empathy for peers and animals. The other daughter needs extension opportunities, particularly in English and Humanities, is a motivated, independent learner and an avid reader. My husband is a high school Industrial Technology and Design teacher. His strengths are in the practical skills of designing, constructing and fixing. Even my small family of 4 demonstrates what a 'rainbow of learners' we all are! I'm passionate about differentiating for the needs of diverse little learners in classrooms and making learning fun, practical and accessible for all.
