Students will be able to:
• Write and evaluate one-step equations
• Write and evaluate algebraic expressions involving up to three variables
• Simplify expressions using the order of operations
• Recognize and apply the three properties (distributive, associative, commutative)
• Solve one and two step equations involving all 4 operations by getting the variable alone and performing the inverse operation
• Divide using cross multiplication
Students will be able to:
• Convert fractions and mixed numbers to decimals
• Convert decimals to fractions
• Use benchmarks and the number line to determine which whole number is closest to the rational number (positive or negative fractions, mixed numbers, decimals)
• Compare and order positive and negative rational numbers and place them on a number line
