Can be printed as a student handout or a 24x18in poster. This poster along with sticky notes with a variety of numbers allows students to place and move numbers to gain a better understanding of the classification of rational numbers.
This similar figures packet provides guided notes and practice (key included). This packet includes material to help students understand similarity statements in order to help set up proportions to determine if two figures are similar, which proportion is set up correctly (some are simple, some are rotated figures), solve for a missing side (regular and embedded) and setting up proportions from a word problem about shadows.
These scaffolded notes guide students to name all shapes, write the formulas and calculate the area of composite figures. There are plenty of examples for students to work independently as well as with their teacher. There is a challenge page that asks for area of a shaded region only.
This can be printed as a student handout or as a 24x36 in poster. I use this in my class with sticky notes to have students classify a variety of numbers. This allows the class to look at the placement of numbers and have a class or small group discussion about if we agree or disagree with the placement of numbers.
This worksheet has 16 problems that review adding and subtracting rational numbers. There are 9 word problems and 7 computation problems. These questions focus on the common fractions (1/4, 1/2, 2/5, ect) that students will see on STAAR. I have students covert all fractions to decimals!
Do your students struggle to understand what a composite figure is and how to calculate the area? This introduction activity allows students to build a train using all the given pieces to determine the total composite area. Students are able to see their trains are all different yet they all have the same composite area. The numbers are small and friendly to help students build confidence as they calculate the area of semi-circles, rectangles, a triangle and a trapezoid. After students have
Do your students need more practice with common fractions they can work with? Tired of using crazy fractions that students struggle with? These notes are designed to help students turn common fractions into decimals in order to multiple & divide them. Students will practice multiplication and division skills, changing fractions to decimals, changing decimals to fractions, and practice with word problems.
Do your students need extra practice comparing and ordering rational numbers? This has 9 comparing and ordering questions with percents, square roots, pi and various numbers mixed with word problems. This also include a 1 question exit ticket! Exit ticket will print with two exit tickets per page!
This gives students 8 equations with variables on both sides to solve. As students solve each equation, they will input their answer into the corresponding cell. If the cell changes from blue to purple the answer is correct. If the answer is not correct the cell will not change color.
Do your students struggle to create equations from word problems. This short handout provides students with their own anchor chart at the top to help them practice which number is m & b to fill in the equation.
