This is meant to be used with a "culinary school" room transformation. As students work through the real world word problems, reward students by allowing them to create a part of the recipe. For the salad, we used colored construction paper, large bowls, and play kitchen utensils. For the pizza, I had some pizza boxes donated from a local pizza shop and students drew inside the box. For the cake, we used different materials such as dirt, sand, flour, etc.

Use this presentation to introduce all the vocabulary necessary for students to begin understanding fractions. This is ideal for 3rd grade but can be used for review of vocabulary in 4th and 5th grade as well. In order to play the vocabulary game included, you will need two fly swatters.
