I currently teach a Preschool for All Learners Collaborative Classroom for 3-5 year students on IEPs. I've taught a kindergarten through second grade class for autistic students at a public school. My whole teaching experience has been with under served and under represented populations. Given their special needs and their difficult community and family backgrounds these students’ needs are greater than usual. The students are proud of their multicultural and bilingual backgrounds. They are excited about school and eager to learn each day. My goal is to empower them with the knowledge and confidence that they can learn and succeed despite the many challenges they face.
I have listed the Third grade English Language Arts and Mathematics Common Core State Standards (CCSS) + the California additions based on the April 2013 Prepublication File by the CA Department of Education. Domains and clusters are color coded. Six spaces are included to track when a standard was taught, retaught and reviewed. Space can also be used for pacing, planning or data! One space is included to note when a standard was mastered or summative assessment information. This form is great

I have listed the third grade mathematics common core standards + the California additions based on the April 2013 Prepublication File by the CA Department of Education. Domains and clusters are in larger, bolder font. One checkbox per standard is included to note when a student has mastered that standard. This form is great for tracking your progress through the curriculum and communicating data to others. This is also great for portfolios!!
This file is meant to provide a daily snapshot of the student's engagement, participation and behavior in their mainstream classroom. There is room for daily quick notes and one place for a longer note. Students can take this to the mainstream room each day they attend. The special education teacher can review and address any concerns when needed. Easily filed into a student's portfolio for easy record keeping.
This handy dandy checklist is used when completing the academic portion of the initial or re-evaluation for a student potentially receiving special education services. I would make copies of this form on colored paper and attach it to the top of the file folder holding all my assessment materials for the target student. This check list would help me quickly see what needed to be completed and track what's already been done.
I used this form to track a student's performance regarding a particular IEP goal, target skill or area of concern. This would help me track data for data talks with admin, fellow teachers or families.
I use this form to communicate and document with general education counter parts for the students on my caseload receiving pull out and/or push in academic services.

Teaching style
I quickly learned that each year can be dramatically different. I have developed a style of teaching that is adaptable/flexible to my students individual needs. I've learned to prioritize those needs and not to sweat the small stuff. My greatest goal is to target where they are developmentally for their academic and social skills. I believe in strong communication with parents, service providers and administration so that they can understand the system, their student and how they must advocate for them. I also believe in making the students aware of their current skills and goals for growth so they can become part of the process.
