Algebra Rational Functions Graphing Practice Worksheet

Once students have learned the asymptote rules for rational functions, this double-sided worksheet gives them 4 problems to practice. The problems model finding the vertical asymptote, horizontal or slant asymptote, as well as x and y -intercepts in order to sketch each graph. A few questions about the graphs are sprinkled in. Answer key is provided with color-coded asymptotes. The worksheet builds, giving students hints about vertical asymptotes as x=____, while horizontal or slant are y=____.

Card Sort | Exponential and Logarithmic Equations and Features

Function feature Card Sort with 8 sets of four cards each. Sets include 4 exponential functions and 4 logarithmic functions, each with a word description, equation, feature description, and graph. The card sort is arranged so you can print one of each page on a different color and students will make a set of four cards, one of each color. Colors sort the sets. Each set is a great complement to chapters on the inverse functions Exponentials and Logarithms. The Card Sort also works well as a ch

Editable Modified-7-Block Planner for 2025-26 with single and double-block days

Modified Block Planner can be modified with Microsoft PowerPoint. Best for schools with standard blocks Monday, Tuesday, Friday and long blocks on Wednesday and Thursday. Currently, periods are in order 1-7, then 1-4 and 5-7 on long block days (we have a fun schedule to accommodate sports in the afternoon!). The planner starts on Mondays with Saturday and Sunday on page 2 of each week. A small monthly calendar is set under the weekend days to help keep track of the month. Additional blocks are g

Polynomials Card Group Game: Graph from Factors

Card Sorts are a fun and challenging way to pick out features of equations. This card sort has several monomial and binomial factor cards with which students create polynomials and sketch graphs from zeros. Ideas that follow include multiplicity for even or odd numbered factors and how the graph bounces or passes through the x-axis. Students practice calculator skills by finding values of a function for y-intercept, minimums and maximums through the calculate menu, and zooming in and out to see

Maze | Quadratic Summary

Use this summary of quadratics to review quadratic equations. Students needs to find the axis of symmetry, vertex, minimum, maximum, x-intercepts...all from one of the three forms of the quadratic. Students may not know what they need to find, but only one answer is correct. Good for review before a test of quiz, making review a little bit more fun. Bonus! Included on the answer key is the link to the digital version(self checking). Both for the same price!

Composition of Functions and Inverse Functions Circuit

17 problems that ask students to use the notations for both composition of functions and inverse functions. Students will use graphs for composition of functions and for inverses. They will have to limit the domain of a function so it can be one-to-one and be invertible. Because the format is a circuit, students can work their way through and know if the answers are correct when they make their way to the last problem.

Experience

Returning to teaching after many years running our family retail sales of linens business, I come to class now with the simple love of of the beauty in math. I can teach like a seasoned adult, but without the wear and tear of a 30 year teacher. I am thankful for this late change back into the career I had envisioned for myself when I was bright and shiny.

Teaching style

Very few lessons with guided notes, I enjoy writing out the concepts and bringing them to life on paper. At the same time, it is wonderful to have students find the rules out on their own. Both having students write their own notes, creating a story of the functions we will learn about AND offering guided discoveries work well to foster the connections in concepts.
