Hey guys I am a young Japanese teacher in Australia, I graduated in 2017 ands have been doing relief work and maternity coverage since then. I love teaching Japanese and as we all do, love seeing the looks on our students faces when they can communicate in another language.

Telling the Time - Reading and Writing
Learning to tell the time in Japanese can be tricky ! Not anymore ! These 5 handouts will have your students occupied and learning for ages. Only the numbers here are using Kanji, the rest is in Hiragana - targeted for primary or lower high school learning. Students need to read the time and draw the correct time on the clock face, then the last 2 pages test your students - ask them to read the clock face and write the time in the box provided in Japanese ! This worksheet is a great extension activity for your classroom when learning about あります & います. This worksheet furthers their knowledge and expand the previous structures by know turning it into a question! Students in this activity will formulate questions in Japanese using ありますか & いますか and walk around the room asking each other if they have or don't have that item! The NON-LIVING! This worksheet explains to students how to use 〜あります. Students will translate Japanese sentences into English and then match the correct Japanese sentence with the English meaning. Students are expected to be able to read ひらがな and some カタカナ for this exercise. I will be also uploading a Romaji worksheet soon, so no matter the skill level we can all learn !

て Form ! Years 9 and above!
Creating て form can be tricky, especially when you are learning. This worksheet is aimed at years 9 and above, here we look at translating English into Japanese and Japanese back into English. By now our students should know the て form song, which will definitely help with this worksheet. As an extra extension for students ask them to make 2 sentences using て form, 1 sentence about their morning this morning and 1 sentence about school today !

Teaching style
My teaching style involves a lot of inclusivity. I like to teach as a group and allow my students to work together. Then allow those that understand the grammar structure or activity to then teach others in the group. Scaffolding is a great approach to teaching and one I find often works for me.
My own education history
I studied a double degree in linguistics majoring in Japanese and international relations. I then when onto studying my dip. Ed. in Secondary Education.
