Desmos Intro Linear Applications with Slope Intercept and Standard Form

Created by

The activity is to have students use the PA version of desmos to write linear application problems in either standard form or slope intercept form. For the PA version, we have to solve for y, so there is a spot for each problem to write the equation and if it's in standard form, solve for y. You can use this with any other version of desmos as well; it would just be good practice in solving an equation for y. It has them practice changing scales, making tables, labeling the axes and then takin

Digital InteractiveActivity for finding SLOPE from a graph and using the formula

This digital activity is interactive. For the first 3 slides, students practice finding slope by "rise over run." Students put dots on the graph to show which 2 points they are counting between, then after finding the slope, students can use the "drag and drop" feature to see if they are correct. This activity is self-checking in the respect that if a student cannot find their answer, they have made a mistake. The 4th slide introduces the slope formula and has a brief example of using the featu

Digital Activity Slope Intercept Form

This interactive google slide activity has 2 slides of showing the slope intercept form equation (positive slope, negative slope, horizontal and vertical lines). Then it goes into interactive practice. Students drag and drop the "points" on the slide to find 2 good points in which to count the slope and find the y-intercept. After they drag the points, they can count their slope (find it along the side, and then drag and drop it into the equation), then they do the same for the y-intercept. Ther

Use these interactive digital activities to tell how your students are doing with the concepts. The digital activities have drag and drop features and are self checking in the respect that if a student cannot find his/her answer, it is a hint that they must have done something wrong or in the respect that if when a student is done, they shouldn't have any left over answers. This activity is great for checking for understanding either shortly after the concept was taught or even later to make sur

This slideshow takes you through several examples of how to convert from slope intercept to standard. It goes through the steps of how to rewrite the equations when there are fractional coefficients and it has them rewrite so that A is always positive (in Ax + By = C). The slides are animated and take you through the process mathematically and in words. Great to reinforce learning before independent work or as a quick whiteboard practice. If you teaching virtually, students could use this as a "

These digital worksheets have room for students to upload or type their work. Each digital worksheet is self checking with movable parts. Students are to find their answers and then find the appropriate x and y values. Day 1: Systems where it is already appropriately set up for students to eliminate (or they may have to multiply one equation by -1) Day 2: Systems where students must multiply one equation in order to solve the system Day 3: Systems where students must multiply both equations in

In this google slide presentation, students are posed with different scenarios and need to decide if it requires a permutation or combination to solve andthen find the answers. These bring about great conversation so that students have a better understanding of the difference between permutations and combinations.

This google slide presentation can be shared with students as a digital worksheet. There is space for students to attach their work or type their responses for each problem. There are also draggable pieces where students can check their answers from the possible number banks (there is a number bank of x values and a number band for y values); students can choose to attach their work at the end of the slide presentation. Answer key is provided. MAKE SURE TO MAKE A STUDENT COPY before sharing with

This google slide presentation gives students 5 basic simplifying square root problems that they can practice on paper or dry erase; the answer will appear before the next slide. Then, 3 more challenging problems are given (again, with answers that appear on the click). This is followed 5 simplifying square root problems with coefficients. On the click, these problems will have the steps shown in the simplifying process along with the answer.

This google slide presentation takes students from solving basic absolute value equations to solving complex absolute value equations. Slides 1-5 have animated hints and answers to solving these, slides 6-13 are practice slides where only the answers are animated. This is a great way to get your class "on the same page" with this topic. The first few slides provide the opportunity to introduce this as a discussion type format before introducing the topic or you could even use this as a review. T

It begins with 2 step inequalities, moves on to fractional coefficients, jumps to multistep inequalities, then ends with inequalities with variables on both sides. In class, you can click through as students work through the problems on paper or on whiteboards. Ther are a total of 12 problems (13 slides including title slide)

This is a dry erase practice that I use with students the day after we have learned the concept. It has a couple of questions where students don't need to move the variable, instead they have to know to combine like terms. The answers are animated so that after showing the question, when you click on the slide, the answer appears. There are 9 problems which is great for a short in class practice
