About the store
This will be my 23rd year teaching. I have loved every year, and I keep learning and growing. I have experience at all levels, including PreK-8, private, public, and charter. Most all of my experience has been in high-need, Title 1 schools where there is extremely high poverty.

Use this word document as a template for first grade lesson plans. It has spaces for Guided Reading groups and small group writing intervention groups. The form can be modified to meet your individual needs. It is customized for Daily Five and has space for spelling words, sight words, read alouds, and an interactive read aloud. There is plenty of space to write in the CCSS standards too!

Words Template for Testing

Use this blank words template for testing CVC words, long/short vowel words, sight words, words, r-controlled vowel words, blends, or any other group of words that you have been working on in class. I find it especially helpful to write in the words and then copy onto cardstock and put in plastic sheet protectors so that I can re-use it year after year. Then I can track the data of who knows what!

Daily Five Choices Form Editable

Use this form for students to highlight their choices each day for Daily Five. I use one form per Guided Reading group. This way, I can easily see who is doing what and manage their literacy time. The choices on my form (it can be edited for your individual needs) are as follows: Read to Self, Writing, Word Work, Technology, Read to Others/Listen. I have extra spaces for Read to Self and Technology because I want students to do those twice during the week but, again, you can make it work for you

This page can be used for students to place stickers so they can display their incentives proudly! You can keep them on their desks or tables or hang them on the wall. I copy them on to cardstock for more durability.

Experience

This will be my 23rd year teaching. I have loved every year, and I keep learning and growing. I have experience at all levels, including PreK-8, private, public, and charter. Most all of my experience has been in high-need, Title 1 schools where there is extremely high poverty.

Teaching style

I have been around long enough to see just about every "band wagon" come through education. That being said, I think good teachers have lots of tools in their tool belt. Most important is to keep learning and listening to the kids. Be willing to laugh with them and at yourself. If you can't enjoy this job, you are in the wrong profession.
