About the store
Lumberjack Learning is a passion project born from the partnership of a twenty-year veteran elementary teacher and her husband, inspired by the unique challenges of the 5th-grade classroom. After moving to a 5th-grade teaching position, we realized students were hitting a "rigor wall" where the math became more complex and the teaching strategies more varied than ever before. We founded Lumberjack Learning to bridge that gap, creating comprehensive worksheet packets that consolidate modern learning strategies and state-testing requirements into one easy-to-access download. Anchoring our brand is Jack, our high-energy rescue cat. We adopted him after moving to a home deep in the forest, and while he was small, his bold spirit earned him the nickname "our little Lumberjack." Today, Jack serves as a friendly mascot to help students navigate the dense forest of 5th-grade standards. Our mission is to take a subject that often feels like a tangled thicket of confusing strategies and clear a path—bringing these complex standards down to earth. We provide teachers with classroom-tested tools and students with the targeted practice they need to build lasting mathematical fluency and confidence.

Fraction Master Kit: Build, Compare & Solve with Fraction Tiles. Grades 3-5.

Fractions often feel abstract and intimidating to students. This kit was designed to transform that confusion into "aha!" moments through physical measurement and visual logic. From identifying basic equivalents to mastering common denominators, these tiles provide a concrete visual for students to build their number sense. Worksheet Features: • Dual-Format Versatility: Includes a color version for immediate classroom use and a Black & White version for student-led "Color &Create" activity. • Ve

5.NF.A.1 4.OA.B.4 Greatest Common Factor Discovery: Rainbow Arcs to find GCF

Finding factors doesn't have to be a scavenger hunt! This worksheet gives students a graphic organizer that ensures they never miss a factor pair again. By using the 'Rainbow' method, students connect small factors to their larger partners, creating a visual map of a number's anatomy. Once the factor rainbows are complete, students can easily identify the Greatest Common Factor (GCF) between two numbers. This skill is the essential bridge to simplifying fractions and finding equivalent values. P

5.NF.A.1 4.NF.A.1 Simplifying Fractions Exercises: Step-by-Step GCF & Reduction

Give your students the precision tools they need to master the final step of fraction operations! This worksheet moves beyond basic 4th-grade equivalence and dives into the rigor required for 5th-grade success. Simplifying a fraction is often the weakest link in solving complex problems. This workshop provides a structured, three-step blueprint that guides students through identifying the Greatest Common Factor (GCF), performing the division, and (most importantly) handling Improper Fractions an

5.NF.A.2 Fraction Estimation Workshop: Estimating Sums with Benchmark Fractions

Take the guesswork out of fraction estimation! This worksheet provides students with visual number lines to master fraction estimation. Rather than jumping straight into complex common denominators, these pages help students develop a intuitive sense for fraction values. By using individual number lines for every problem, students can clearly see whether a fraction is closer to 0, 1/2 or 1. This concrete visual support helps students build the essential estimation skills needed to verify if thei

5.NF.A.1 Mixed Number Subtraction: Mastering Regrouping & Simplification

Tackle the toughest hurdle in fraction arithmetic with confidence! This mixed number subtraction worksheet is a 6-page intensive set designed to guide students through the complexities of regrouping and unlike denominators. This set doesn't just ask for the answer; it provides the mathematical blueprint for success. Students move through a scaffolded progression, starting with basic subtraction and moving into more challenging problems that require borrowing from a whole number to make subtracti

5.NF.A.1 Mixed Number Addition: Mastering Regrouping & Simplification

This 6-page comprehensive worksheet set challenges students to combine every skill they've learned, from finding the Least Common Multiple to performing simplification. These aren't just basic addition problems. Students must navigate unlike denominators, manage whole numbers, and master the transition from improper fractions to simplified mixed numbers. With dedicated 'Show Your Work' zones for every problem, this worksheet set ensures that students follow the mathematical blueprint from start

5.NF.A.1 4.NF.A.1 Step-by-Step Equivalent Fractions: A Visual Guide

Master the 'missing link' of fraction addition and subtraction! This LCD & Equivalence worksheet provides a foolproof, two-stage blueprint for converting unlike fractions. Before students can add or subtract, they must find a common ground. This resource breaks that complex process into manageable steps: first, students list multiples to discover the Least Common Denominator (LCD). Then, they use that LCD as a target to calculate new, equivalent numbers. By Isolating this specific skill, you eli

5.NF.A.1 4.OA LCM Discovery: Using Multiplication Grid for Common Denominators

This LCM Grid Workshop provides students with a high-visual, structured environment to discover Least Common Multiples. By mapping out multiples on a structured grid, students can physically see the patterns of numbers and identify their Least Common Multiple (LCM) with 100% accuracy. Perfect for 5th-grade instruction, 4th-grade enrichment, or middle school intervention, these worksheets move students away from mental math errors and toward a concrete understanding of how multiples overlap. Take your fraction unit out of the textbook and into the workshop! This worksheet challenges students to apply their knowledge of fraction addition and subtraction to real-world measurements. Students must accurately read ruler segments marked, then navigate both addition and subtraction problems using those measurements. This set is designed to sharpen their ability to find common denominators and handle regrouping or improper fraction conversions in a concrete, visual context. It's the perfect

5.NF.A.1 4.OA.B.4 Skip-Counting to fin d LCM: A Visual Number Line Workshop

Help your students see the math behind common denominators! This number line LCM worksheet uses skip-counting jumps to help students visualize how multiples move along a number line. By mapping out the jumps for two different numbers, students can easily identify the exact point where their 'jumps' meet for the first time, identifying the Least Common Multiple (LCM) clearly. This visual approach is perfect for students who need a more concrete representation than a multiplication table. It reinf
