Crystal taught bilingual first graders for two years in the Dallas metro area and one year in Austin. First grade is the only grade she wanted to teach because she loves taking children from beginning readers to strong, fluent readers.

We, at LUMI Learning, choose to focus on the core of what it takes for children to learn and retain the information they receive. We are big fans of blended learning because we know that technology, apps, and artificial intelligence can never replace teachers, but they can be powerful supplementary tools used to empower teachers to differentiate instruction more easily.

While Crystal was a teacher, she was asked to give presentations to fellow teachers on how to create instructional videos and methods to deliver those videos to students.

I, Crystal, spent my childhood along the U.S.-Mexico border in South Texas. I come from generational poverty and feel incredibly fortunate to have had the support of family and educators to break free from that cycle and accepted into some of the world's finest educational institutions. It's my mission to do whatever I can to help students of all backgrounds, but especially those who have many odds stacked against them. I run the company with my fiancé and Co-founder, Chris Whitesell, who has experience training and leading multi-million dollar sales teams, building and nurturing relationships with potential and current customers, and wearing the many hats you need to wear when starting a business.
