Helping Students Be Successful, One Subject At A Time! My background I have been teaching and learning all of my working life. It has been a lifelong passion for me to help struggling students reach high levels of success. In 1999, I started my first classroom teaching job in Oakland, California. I had a class of 45 middle school students who had been blindly promoted through school and couldn't read half of the words written on this page. By the end of my second year teaching, most of them were reading at a fifth grade level and three appeared on Disney Radio, featured for their success in learning to read for the first time as middle school students. They had skills and confidence in their reading. Currently I teach 5th grade in Oregon.

TRACK RECORD OF SUCCESS: <p>I have been recognized on National Public Radio, Disney Radio, and in the Oakland Tribune for my success in teaching children more than 2 years behind grade level to read. I spent two years teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade in Oakland, California through the nationally recognized Teach For America program.
