Form for younger students

This is a lesson plan using the song "Get on Board" to introduce the concept of form. There is room to adjust for different style teaching and different space. This is great for 1-3rd grade students, possibly Kindergarten as well. Kids love to move and sing. This incorporates both.

Great listening journal for 3rd graders and up! Use as a lesson or a filler. Maybe make it a weekly routine! Either way, it gets your kids listening, writing and describing!!

This is a form I created for a class to evaluate another students performance. It helps keep all students involved and listening for accuracy in recorder performance (could be used with other instruments as well).

This journal is great for 1st and 2nd grade students. I play some music and the students fill out the journal. Really great to look at to assess student listening. You can use this as a weekly lesson or filler time.

About the store

Experience

I have 4 years experience teaching K-5th grade music.

Teaching style

I use a lot of different management techniques in my classroom and focus a lot on student responsibility and routine. My students are very familiar with my expectations and behave respectfully (most of the time). I use a lot of smartboard materials and movement with my younger students. My older students are expected to be very creative.

Awards & shining teacher moments

As a student at ISU, I received the Gertrude Erbe Award/Scholarship for Music Education.

My own education history

Attended Illinois State University. Bach. Music Education

Additional biographical information

I love teaching music but I now have dreams of being an Early Childhood Educator in the future. A K-2nd grade student has an excitement towards learning that creates a wealth of energy for any teacher. I have been married to my husband since June 2010. We just welcomed our first child, baby boy, in Novemeber of 2013. I love everything about being a mother and can't wait for whatever life brings me.
