In this writing activity students work on writing an opinion piece while filling out an application for employment. Students will fill out an application to become an elf for Santa. They must then write a letter to stating why they should be hired. This is a great quick write for the holidays and make a wonderful bulletin board display.

This is an extension activity for the novel Charlotte's Web. Students will discuss the character traits of four of the main characters: Charlotte, Wilbur, Fern, and Templeton. After discussing the character traits of each of these characters the students will then decide which of the characters they most identify with. The students will make a craftivity where they write how they are like the character. Students will then share with the class their responses.
