This is a template that can work with any lab or experiment you choose to conduct! The template follows the scientific method and provides sentence frames to support students with writing if, then, because hypotheses, and a claim, evidence, reasoning conclusion.
Students determine the numerator and denominator of a fraction by finding objects in the room. For the first question, it asks students to count the number of tissue boxes that are open (numerator) and then find the total number of tissue boxes in the room (denominator). It then asks students to simplify the fraction (⅓ of the tissue boxes are open) in the last column. This is a fun activity that requires students to move around the room and have fun simplifying fractions!
This activity provides simplified explanations of the different types of engineers, including a summary, what they study, and where they work. A cut and paste matching activity is included for students to summarize and comprehend the fact pages. These materials can be used in a gallery walk, classroom scavenger hunt, as research for building engineering background, and much more!
