"Planning a Birthday Party" activity includes scenario for planning as well as a chart to track various expenses including plastic cutlery, decor, gifts, and food. Students will shop online and find real products, calculate how much they would need to supply, and complete the chart.

I've used this in my classroom for an "Around the Room" type activity with word problems that I print out and post around my classroom or the hallways. Students can first identify the operation they will most likely use before working out the problems on the answer sheet.
