Ready for a classroom culture shock? The SOW Award drastically changed how my students interacted with each other. The Student of the Week was created to teach teenagers about leadership and positivity by showing them how to recognize and be recognized for good character (and not just academic success). This can be used for any subject and can be modified to work for any age. You'll get a copy to my Google Slide that has: Directions on how to start a SOW Award program in your classroomPrintable

A Back-to-School activity that's fun for anyone! Teenagers are super familiar with images and they probably have plenty of them on their phone. Now, they can use them to show off who they are. About the store

Experience

I've spent 4 years in high school agriculture and 2 years in 4-H and other nonformal, agricultural education. I've taught a wide range of students of different ages, backgrounds, and learning abilities. My Bachelor's is in Extension Education and Master's is in Agriculture Education.

Teaching style

It's important to me for my students to get the full learning experience, from low-order to high-order thinking. I love making learning fun and making lessons personalized to my individual students. My classroom always has music, an occasional snack, and a classroom culture that celebrates learning and supporting each other.

Awards & shining teacher moments

This is my 3rd year as an FFA National Teacher Ambassador. I have the fun opportunity to speak to other agriculture teachers and pre-service teachers from across the country about using National FFA Educator Resources in their classroom.

My own education history

I joined agriculture in 9th grade because it was the "cool" class, but soon found a love for all things agriculture. Before I knew it, I was a chapter officer and went on to get my FFA American Degree. So, I know the impact that a good teacher can have on a student! I then attended North Carolina State University for Agriculture Education & Extension (AEE). While here, I was in the AEE Club, MANRRS, and study abroad in the UK.

Additional biographical information

I'm a Jesus follower, army wife and mama to 2. I love sparkles, cows, and shopping. I'm a big fan of hand-written notes, reading a good book, and trying something new.
