This is a project in which the students will create their own country. There are 4 parts to the project: Map, Flag, Laws, and different questions about their made up country. This document includes all you need for this project. This is great to use at the end of the year for a geography class. In this activity, it is a webquest for students to comb through the Ballotpedia website. It includes links as well. File: Google Doc (you can make a copy of it and change it to your own needs).

This is an essay that encompasses what the student thinks geography is. It would be a great assignment for the beginning of the year or the end of the year. I use it with my honors students at the beginning of the year to see what exactly they think geography is. We do go through a little background before they write the essay. The essay is laid out into 7 paragraphs and goes into detail exactly what they need to write for each one. It also includes the rubric with it.

This is a 7 paragraph essay assignment. This outlines the entire essay from what each paragraphs needs to have it in, sentence count, etc. It has a mini rubric also attached for grading. This is something good to do at the beginning of a Geography unit or class to really help the students understand what exactly Geography is. Students will choose a state in the United States and complete detailed research using netstate.com. They will then draw and color the flag and do a collage of all the information of the state.
