If you are looking for resources for your secondary General Music classes look no further! Some students are there because of a love for music while others are in our classes just for their art credit. With the resources found in this store hopefully you can find a nice balance of fun and interesting lessons that will keep all music students running back to your class each day. I have been teaching music for 9 years including all grades K-12. I've taught various classes including: General Music, IB Music, Choir, Vocal Lessons, and Piano. I've directed choirs for my whole career and taken my choirs abroad on European tours. I have also served as the President of my local music teacher association for the last six years.

Teaching style

I am a teacher that likes to build community in the classroom first. Students need to feel comfortable in a music class so that they can be vulnerable wether they are singing, sharing a piece of music they wrote, or presenting on music research. I like to spend time getting to know the interests of my students so that I can incorporate their ideas into my lessons. I also am a big proponent of Project Based Learning and allowing students to build their own knowledge while I am a "guide on the side."

Awards & shining teacher moments

Bringing my choirs to perform all around Europe is one of my favorite parts of my job. My choirs have been awarded Gold markings in state festivals and local competitions.

My own education history

I earned my Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education with a Concentration in Voice and Choral Music from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. I also earned my Performance Certificate in Voice from Crane. I hold a Master of Science Degree in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology. I enjoy writing curriculum for music classes and incorporating technology wherever I can.

Additional biographical information

Besides teaching I also enjoy musical theater - both directing and performing. I have been a part of numerous musical productions and music direct at my school. We have won awards for our productions! Away from music, you can find me in my garden, listening to Podcasts and audio books, cooking, doing pottery, and enjoying time with my two cats - Chester and Dexter.
